3D Printer Maintenance: Monthly Checklist
Regular maintenance preserves print quality and catches problems before they escalate. Here is a monthly checklist for a heavily used FDM printer:
- Check belt tension and adjust if necessary
- Clean the linear rods and rails, then lubricate them with the appropriate oil
- Clean and grease the Z-axis lead screw
- Remove burnt plastic residue from the outside of the nozzle using a brass brush
- Clean filament dust from the extruder gear
- Blow out the fan blades and cooling ducts with compressed air
- Wipe the build plate surface with isopropyl alcohol
- Check the tightness of all screw connections, especially on the hotend and gantry
- Inspect the cables at all movement points for signs of wear
This 20-minute routine will extend the life of your machine by years. If you prefer, you can leave periodic maintenance to the Ucuz3D technical service team.
