How to Repair an STL File? (Manifold Errors)
A “non-manifold” model is the most common file problem in 3D printing: the mesh surface contains holes, reversed triangles, self-intersecting faces, or disconnected parts. The slicer misinterprets such a model and the print comes out unexpectedly distorted.
Free repair tools: PrusaSlicer and Cura suggest automatic repair on import; Windows’ 3D Builder app fixes most errors with a single click; Blender’s 3D-Print Toolbox add-on highlights errors one by one; Meshmixer’s “Make Solid” feature reconstructs stubborn models from scratch.
These errors are very common in models downloaded from the internet. We automatically check every file we receive before printing and repair it if necessary — and we get in touch with you if a file has issues.
