3D Printing for Spare Parts Production
Having to replace an entire machine because a single plastic part broke on a discontinued device is exactly the kind of problem 3D printing solves most clearly. From washing machine knobs to air conditioner fan gears, from curtain brackets to industrial machine slides, countless parts can be reproduced.
The process: the broken part is measured (using calipers or 3D scanning), remodelled in CAD, the right material is selected, and it is printed. In most cases it is possible to use a stronger material than the original — for example, printing a broken ABS gear in nylon.
For businesses, the inventory cost advantage is significant as well: instead of physical stock, a digital parts library is maintained and printed on demand. Send us a photo of your broken part via our WhatsApp line and we will assess its manufacturability free of charge.
