Nozzle Sizes and Their Impact on 3D Printing

 In Printing Equipment

The nozzle is the tip through which molten plastic flows onto the print bed, and its diameter determines the character of the print. The standard diameter is 0.4 mm, which offers a good balance between detail, speed, and strength.

Fine nozzles such as 0.2 mm can handle very small details, but print times multiply and the risk of clogging increases. Thicker nozzles of 0.6–1.0 mm print large parts much faster, and mechanical strength also improves because inter-layer adhesion is greater.

Abrasive-additive filaments such as carbon fiber quickly wear down brass nozzles; hardened steel or ruby-tipped nozzles are essential for these materials. We set up the right nozzle configuration based on your material choice.
